Dog Names

Dog Names Choosing a great name Choosing a name for your new dog can be a lot of fun for the whole family. Be sure to pick a name that pleases everyone and is easy for the do to learn. Keep it simple You might want to go with a name that is easy to say in a hurry. That way, if your dog starts to run into the street you can call his name quickly and not have to rattle off a long complicated name. For example, Willy is an easy dog name but Sir William the Seventh is not! Can you imagine yelling “Sir William the Seventh, come!”? By the time you spit that all out, he may already be crossing the street. By all means give him a long “official” sounding name if you want, but his call name should be easier to say, such as Willy. Keep it positive You should also choose a name that reflects you dog or his personality in a positive light. It’s not a great idea to get a Pit Bull puppy and name him Killer or Kujo. Even though he will grow up to look tough, you do not want people to view your dog in a negative light. Certain breeds already have a bad enough reputation as it is. Dog name searches There are great sites that offer searchable databases and I have listed them below. I could have added thousands of names here for you to look through but I find these searchable databases MUCH easier on the eyes than looking through lists of thousand of names! Dog-Names.us offers a free searchable database with over 6,000 dog names and meanings. Bow Wow Meow has thousands of pet names with popularity, meanings, and ratings.
